Reliably informed

Announcing their arrival on the region’s music scene with a track you’ll struggle to dislodge from your brain is a pretty good strategy, and one that electro pop quartet Vandebilt have managed with aplomb. The group’s debut, Dream In Colour, is a dancefloor banger and has ‘sure-fire hit’ written all over it; hardly surprising given the band’s pedigree – the quartet is made up of musicians who have previously worked with the likes of harmony group Lilliput and retro rockers Hyde & Beast, not to mention also teaming up with Smoove (of ‘and Turrell’) on production duties – all of which makes for a group of seriously talented musicians with a fine line in pop hits.

Their sound is broadly electro-fuelled pop which gives nods to the likes of Phoenix, Daft Punk and Chromeo. Dream In Colour exhibits an expansive sound laden with neo-funk groove; smooth without being over produced, it’s a paean to hedonism, shot through with warm synth tones and a shoutable chorus.

The Sunderland-based band are poised to unleash their dancefloor friendly sound with a headline show at The Cluny, Newcastle on Saturday 7th April. Entry is granted via free ‘golden tickets’, which are available directly from the band on vandebiltmusic@gmail.com.
