Underscore, a new project celebrating graphic scores as a place where 2D visual and performance arts meet, have put together a performance event to celebrate the launch of a book which incorporates these representations of music through visual symbols, taking place at North Wing in Newcastle on Wednesday 18th November.

Fifteen different artists are featured in this book of graphic scores. All taken from various points of their respective careers, the artists included are Eleanor Wright, Tracey Tofield, Katy Bentham, Cathy Garner, Sarah Grundy, Dennis Isou, Noize Choir, Josh Wilson, Martin Eccles, Tim Shaw, Jayne Dent, Jez Riley French, Petra Szeman, The Anima Collective and Deanna Smith. Alongside discounted sales of the book, the event features a plethora of musical, poetic and artistic talent, who have each selected a score from the book to interpret, with performances on the night coming from Giles Bailey, Noize Choir, Lauren Vevers, Faye MacCalman, The Anima Collective and Ben Jeans Houghton.

It’ll be a highly original show, with the opportunity to see some unique performances; well worth a look if you can snap up a (limited) ticket.

Underscore book launch and performance takes place at North Wing, Uptin House, Stepney Road, Newcastle on Wednesday 18th November.
