RashDash bring their playful performance about masculinity, gender and language to Northern Stage from Thursday 6th until Saturday 8th October.
Abbi Greenland and Helen Goalen are the fantastic women who founded RashDash in 2009. The pair have won two Fringe First Awards for their original work, which blends music, dance and theatre, challenging their audience to confront big issues.
For their latest piece, Two Man Show, Greenland and Goalen tackle the issue of masculinity and patriarchy. Essentially ‘two women playing women playing men’ who, along with the help of musician Becky Wilkie, combine theatrical performance and loud punk music to address ideas in the void between the feminine and masculine.
Their attack on patriarchy hopes to break down the barriers between men and women by adopting a new language that will allow us to think new thoughts. “The show is a mass of contradictions, just like the world.” The pair proclaim. “Expect to be moved and confused, provoked, tickled and alarmed.”
