This month, internet sensation Tom ‘Mouse’ Smith brings his wise-beyond-his-years acoustic show to Durham’s Old Cinema Launderette on Thursday 22nd June.

The thirteen-year-old guitarist singer/songwriter living with HLHS (half a heart) sprung to the nation’s attention earlier this year when he publicly and very maturely rejected Simon Cowell’s advances ahead of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent. Via Twitter, Tom explained, “I write and sing songs for other reasons I can’t even put into words. No need to phone me back as now everyone has seen this so I could never come on the show without looking daft.” He also says he will write tunes for FIFA points, bless him.

Houghton’s Tom, already an accomplished guitarist, has supported Shed Seven and Catfish and the Bottlemen and played Kendal Calling. Last year he supported Frankie & The Heartstrings, Hyde & Beast and Michael Cassidy as well as jamming backstage with James Bay at T in the Park. His appearance at The Fluffy Rock Cafe at Glastonbury Festival resulted in him being described as one of the highlights of the small stages alongside Billy Bragg. He has also won this year’s Child of Achievement at the Best of Wearside awards. Phew. Be sure to catch him now before he gets much, um, bigger.
