Accomplished Americana musician Tim Eriksen has made a name for himself through his extensive knowledge not only of Americana music, but also of world folk music. He’s worked on Oscar-winning and Grammy-nominated projects, gained a PhD in ethnomusicology, and partnered with artists from across the globe to build up an impressive and diverse back catalogue of traditional music.

Now, he brings his expertise to Newcastle’s Star & Shadow Cinema for a night of acoustic Americana on Monday 29th July. His “strange and original works” feature equally strange and original musical instrument combinations – from banjos and guitars, to fiddles and a Mexican twelve-string acoustic bass called a bajo sexto.

Support for the evening comes from Anglo-American folk duo and regional scene stalwarts Cath & Phil Tyler. Long-time fans of Tim Eriksen may recognise Cath from their folk punk band Cordelia’s Dad back when they both worked together in Massachusetts, so it’ll no doubt be a reunion to look forward to.
