Tigercats are so damn twee that their debut album’s 12” came with a bag of tea and a recipe for chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter flavoured icing. Cute eh?

They’re not all soft centred though – 2012s Isle Of Dogs was a very direct take on upbeat indie pop, offering so many fiercely jangly punk hooks and spoken word declarations, that indie-hungry label Fortuna Pop! (Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Crystal Stilts) had no choice but to scoop them up. A sophomore effort came in the more meandering guise of 2015s Mysteries; a lot less brash than its predecessor, with some silky smooth guitar-pop melodies (King of Vic, Too Sad To Tell You).

The Londoners are specialists in the art of catchiness and are bringing their sweet, sweet chorus wagon to The Cluny 2, Newcastle on Saturday 20th February for a gig put on by local independent record label Tiny Lights.

In support will be Chorusgirl, a London quartet with an ear for magical noise pop, alongside 90s shoegaze enthusiasts Life Model, who channel the sounds of Slowdive and Pixies into one big, colourful nostalgia trip.

Tigercats, Chorusgirl and Life Model play The Cluny 2, Newcastle on Saturday 20th February.
