Lucy Beaumont, Katie Mulgrew and Hayley Ellis all appear at Funny Way To Be
Funny Way to Be brought some stunning comedy to The Witham in Barnard Castle during 2014 and this year is already lining up to be just as fun-filled. To kick off the new season, Teasdale’s biggest comedy club are bringing three northern comedians to the venue on Saturday 10th January, including a headline appearance by the talented Lucy Beaumont.
Beaumont, from Hull, won the BBC New Comedy Award in 2012 and last year was nominated for Foster’s New Comedy Award. Described as the next Victoria Wood, Beaumont was recently commissioned by BBC Radio 4 for her own series, To Hull and Back, and has made appearances on BBC Three’s Live at the Electric. A rising star in comedy, her appearance as the headliner at The Witham is an opportunity not to be missed.
She’s joined by Katie Mulgrew, a familiar face on the UK’s comedy circuit. Although she performs on the adult circuit, if you’ve children of a certain age then you might also recognise her from the CBBC show The Dog Ate My Homework. Rounding off the bill is Manchester’s Hayley Ellis, whose girl-next-door charm and warmth makes her hard to dislike and gives her brand of comedy a sweet spin.
Funny Way to Be’s first show of 2015 is a celebration of talented female comedians at a time when comedy is becoming more masculine.
