The clever ones amongst you might guess that this is the third instalment of Third Time Lucky Festival, although it previously went under the name of the Canny Fringe Festival. Work that out. Nevertheless, what TTL offers is one of those multi-venue urban festivals, but with the twist that only one venue operates per night, eliminating the need for poring over clashfinders and all those mad dashes between stages (apart from the last night, and we’ll let them off for that). So, between Wednesday 11th and Sunday 15th April at Little Buildings, The Cluny and Head Of Steam, over 30 bands will grace their stages. Stage splits are yet to be released at the time of going to press, but with one £6 ticket covering all nights it’s pretty much guaranteed that it’s money well spent.

The roster covers what reads like a shortlist of the local great and good: fuzzy psychedelists The Yada Yada Yadas; the impeccably poppy St. Buryan; a nice slice of indie from Duchess; emotive electronica courtesy of Human X; gloomy alt. indie from Scalesia; the very local-sounding Fosseway; and indefineable jazz rock from Sauvage among many others. If you want to see tomorrow’s bands today, make it Third Time Lucky.
