A quick name change may be a sign of what’s to come. Regarding The Voyeurs, it was their approach to recording that saw a significant shift, one that you can catch at The Cluny this week.

The band, formerly known as Charlie Boyer & The Voyeurs, took a shine to live recording, as their first album Clarietta showed. But as that release didn’t quite hit the potential that the earlier releases had promised, it was time for a rethink. The live recording idea was scrapped and their latest album, Rhubard Rhubard, became a much more successful studio album with much more positive reviews. A more interesting sound was the result, with tracks ranging from almost orchestral to others that are much more stripped back and soulful.

Local Geordies Kobadelta, otherwise known as purveyors of all things raw and brilliant in psychedelic rock, will be joining them as support.

The Voyeurs and Kobadelta play The Cluny, Newcastle on Friday 27th February.
