The small sprinkling of sun we’ve received over the last couple of weeks has us all excited for some wonderful Summer adventures, getting our very best shorts out ready for long days of the best fun. One of the first big Summer events comes to The Stand in Newcastle on Saturday 20th May, as they throw a good old-fashioned Summer Fête, filled with tip-top shenanigans to put a smile on your face.

The day will feature comedy acts, games, events, food and a whole lot more. Some of the highlights set to make the day a memorable one include palm-reading with Tinkerbell Dobson; local psychic and medium Johnny Spoonbender; a knobbly-knees contest; experimental BBQ from The Stand’s fine Bistro chefs; Afrobeat sounds from the amazing Ponyland and the best beats and tunes with DJs Jamie Cook and Jon Cornbill. It’s all held together by your genial host, the Right Rev. Joby Mageean, with the fun beginning at 1pm and running through until late.

The Summer Fête coincides with the famous Shed Bar and Summer Terrace being the place to be on the hot, sunny days and lush warm evenings and the launch of The Stand’s Summer On The Terrace programme. Throughout June, July and August, there’ll be more outdoor-events to come. Keeps your eyes peeled for craft-beer tasting, vegan food festivals, health-juice-cocktails, an exciting roster of bands and performers, and, of course the best funny folk the North East and beyond has to offer.

The Stand Comedy Club’s Village Fête takes place at The Stand, Newcastle on Saturday 20th May.
