The first full-length production of North East based company Red Road Dance Theatre, The Sense of an Ending comes to the stage of Arts Centre Washington for one evening only on Thursday 27th November following its success at Dance City.

Commissioned by Newcastle’s Dance City with support from Gem Arts, Arts Council England and Spin Arts Management, The Sense of an Ending is based on survival stories from women in the north. Choreographer Nadia Iftkhar created the three solo performances after a call out to members of the public to submit stories about an ending, such a broad topic saw stories of loss, abuse and grief. There were happy endings and sad ones, but all of the stories had one thing in common – survival.

Iftkhar is not afraid of the use spoken word in order to give the women’s stories voices and a different lease of life in the form of dance. The Sense of an Ending, above all, is “a love letter to women everywhere who have survival stories that may have never been told.”

The Sense of an Ending is at Arts Centre Washington on Thursday 27th November.
