Grab a few beers from your local off-license or craft beer vendor, go to a castle and watch four acts perform their hearts out in its historic setting… It sounds like a gig of pure fantasy but thanks to the good people at The Rookery Music Collective this is now a reality. Their event on Saturday 28th September will see Newcastle Castle throwing open its doors and allowing 65 music/history fans to explore the 916 year old ancient stronghold, where a selection of performers await to delight the senses.

Kicking off the event is South Shield’s Jen Stevens whose beautiful voice will be showcasing the excellent acoustics. Down in the depths of the dungeon energetic alt-rock duo, Palm Beach X followed by hard-hitting rock ‘n’ rollers, Sing Again Syren, will shake the castle’s foundations. Then in the Great Hall, Manchester-based cosmic electro-pop outfit, Velvet Shakes will finish off the night in psychedelic and euphoric style.

Tickets are £15 and this grants you access to the whole of Newcastle’s Castle. The event is a bring your own drinks affair and the dress code is smart, although be aware that medieval staircases weren’t designed for high heels and ghosts of vanquished warriors can make the air a bit chilly.
