Reliably informed

Avant-garde artists The Physics House Band define themselves by experimenting across genres, from jazz to progressive rock and doom-metal to psychedelia – they’ll bring their electrifying live show to The Cluny on Thursday 11th July.

The band’s recently released EP Death Sequence effortlessly blends moments of ambient synths with resplendent saxophone solos and riffing guitar battles, demonstrating the kind of organic and exhilarating live performance expected from the dynamic group.

The pedigree of their touring buddies over previous years makes for intriguing reading; from the likes of indie band Alt-J to unconventional rockers Tera Melos and Mars Volta’s Omar Rodriquez-Lopez. That they’ve been chosen by such luminaries to support them speaks volumes for their own music, which is by turns gleeful prog and artfully blended disruptive ambience.

Support on the night comes from Newcastle’s own experimental post-rockers Eigengrau and, fresh from a unique performance at Tipping Point Live, sonic experimenter Brad Field, who fuses pipes and percussion to dizzying effect.
