Arguably Brighton’s most remarkable trick up its sleeve, The Magic Gang popped onto the scene in early 2015, ready to unleash their charm and undeniable indie pop corkers upon us all (rumour has it, they’re harvesting a solid 50 of them at least).
Having produced ditties for neighbourly bands such as Manuka Honey and Abattoir Blues, the four amigos paved their own righteous pathway upon the release of their first single No Fun, with its equally as mighty flipside Alright. Their roaring success saw The Magic Gang garner support slots for the likes of melodic maestros Swim Deep and alt. rock extraordinaires Wolf Alice, whilst also churning out the fittingly titled The Magic Gang EP, which boosted their namesake to wondrous heights and cementing them as certified indie dreamboats; a rather lusted after title indeed.
Counting Felix White of the recently parted The Maccabees as a hardcore fan, the boys’ live shows are a facade of screaming girls and nonchalant limb flailing, all cherry-topped with the band’s geeky grins and loveable stage presence. If you fancy catching a smidge of their abracadabra (sorry), they hoik themselves to Newcastle’s Think Tank on Saturday 24th September, and it’s guaranteed it will be VERY fun.
