After a tumultuous three years spent cooped up in a cosy Elephant and Castle studio, frenzied guitar riffs being cascaded against the ceilings and those ethereal, trademark vocals echoing against every flawless and discarded piano melody, The Maccabees have bounced back with a fearless attitude, one that exhibits every late night studio session and the strive for perfection for their fourth studio album, which they’ll be bringing to Newcastle’s O2 Academy on Thursday 19th November.

The evolutionary five-piece are notorious for their experimental flair; the heartfelt indie serenades of debut Colour It In a defining contrast against the exquisite grandeur of Given to the Wild. However, their new release Marks To Prove It seems to have nestled a comfortable mark for the quintet. Inspired by their hometown and the importance of the everyday things that we humans take for granted, The Maccabees have instilled a salient message upon us all to perhaps take an extra moment to appreciate how pleasant it is when the postman gives you a little nod as you shuffle off to your monotonous day job, or how nothing can quite beat the sunset over the Tyne.

Known for mixing up their set list to create something incredible for old fans and new, The Maccabees are guaranteed to be throwing in a few firm favourites, with their mega hit Latchmere making a joyous return, alongside a range of ditties from all their previous three albums, allowing the audience to experience their dynamic foray in its full glory.

A band whose dreamy bundles of lyrical divinity have enchanted the masses and continue to charm with their genuine bashful albeit true Londoner approach, The Maccabees intimately connect with each and every fan effortlessly, and will have you propelling your arms in amorous glee, belting the words back to Orlando Weeks and co. Simply unmissable.
