If you think poetry isn’t for you, then there’s a whole bunch of people that would argue you’re wrong. Long gone are the times when poetry was considered twee or drab, and the Loud Poets collective are out to prove that it is indeed for the masses.

This award-winning collective of top-notch spoken word artists have been treading the boards since 2014 and pack a punch with humour, energy and depth. As part of CaroleW Productions’ Our Friends From Further North: A Scottish Season, the troupe will be stomping over to Gosforth Civic Theatre for two nights of raucous fun on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th March.

Seen regularly at the Edinburgh Fringe, the Loud Poets put on a show that merges poetry, live music and film with dynamic results. Expect a variety of solo and multi-voice pieces accompanied by live music from Scottish band Ekobirds and mind blowing visuals from cinematographer Perry Jonsson.

Slam-style, innovative and interactive, their show can only be described as fist-thumping, pint-drinking, side-tickling, heart-wrenching poetry. Filled with comedy, tragedy, politics and poignancy there really is something for everyone, so grab a drink, open your ears and witness something utterly beguiling – poetry as you have never seen it before.
