When you’ve shared a stage with The Charlatans, Jake Bugg, Alabama 3 and Babyshambles, you know that you’ve got something special on your hands. That’s especially true if you’re describing yourself as industrial folk (with a bit of cheeky Victoriana thrown in for good measure). As the main purveyors of what’s essentially the sonic equivalent of steampunk, Hartlepool quintet The Jar Family are in a league of their own. Reminiscent of the early days of The Pogues with some seriously dirty blues undertones, there’s nothing out there quite like The Jar Family at the minute. It all bodes very well for their upcoming new album, which has been recorded with help from award-winning producer Rupert Christie (who has taken charge of records by everyone from U2 to Kate Bush).

The new video to their latest, rousing single In The Clouds is typically grounded in The Jar Family’s folk and working class roots. A simple clip consisting of the band playing within a lively social club filled with people of all ages, the video encapsulates the power of the band’s music to bring people together. You can watch the new clip below:

The band have also announced that they’ll be going on a UK-wide coffee shop tour throughout February and March. As par of the tour, they’ll be stopping off at two locations in the region, both on Thursday 5th March. At 1pm, they’ll be playing at The Terrace Bar at Teesside University while later on at 3pm, they’ll be making an appearance at Northumbria University’s Habita. All the shows are free to attend, so there’s no excuse not to get in on the action.
