Reliably informed

It hasn’t been all that long since Liverpool’s finest new rock outfit The Jackobins were in the north east, playing at the Head of Steam alongside some of our own local lovelies. But with a penchant for touring and a schedule to fill, they’re back in the north east an in another typically intimate venue to broadcast some of their infectious indie tunes to their increasing army of fans. Their last single Waiting For The Sun has been lauded for being a tight and catchy piece of indie wizardry that takes cues from their jangly, poppy Scouse ancestors and bringing it into the 21st Century.

This time round the Scousers are supported by Billingham garage rock duo Mouses, who as everyone who’s seen them knows put on a blindinly energetic performance that wonderfully tows the line between brilliance and insanity. If something isn’t broken by the end of the set – even just a drumstick – then the duo are probably feeling a bit under the weather. Don’t worry though. That never happens.

The Jackobins and Mouses play at Ku Bar, Stockton on Friday 14th August.
