The devil makes work for idle hands (or so the saying goes). Classic blues-rockers The Idle Hands have been anything but lazy however, having formed in 1989 and become renowned for their passionate, captivating live performances ever since. They’re set to grace the stage at Independent, Sunderland, on Saturday 24th January, as part of the venue’s monthly Holmeside Roots and Blues night.

The prestigious four-piece have been described by Classic Blues Rock Magazine as “Britain’s best unsigned-Blues rockers” and it’s not difficult to see why; they have a unique and stylistically distinct sound, yet it is clearly influenced by such genre staples and iconic Blues names as Led Zeppelin, Rory Gallagher and Jimi Hendrix. Frontman Phil Allen, along with world class strat-slinging guitarist Dave Robinson and the rhythmic base and drums talents of Jamie Burns and Paul Heydon, unite to create a sound that is still very much the top of their game.

This is the band’s first time performing in Sunderland but they will no doubt be reunited with many of the fans and admirers they have garnered in the North East over the years… not to mention initiating new recruits to the hard rock spirit of their passion-filled blues.

The Idle Hands will play Sunderland’s Independent on Saturday 24th January.
