It’s always great when a community gets behind a project and that’s exactly what the UK’s stand-up family have  done. Thursday 14th December sees a series of comedy gigs across the country in support of homeless charities.  The Homeless Support Stand-Up Project was the idea of Lindsey Davies, a North West based comic, and the excellent idea caught on immediately.  The Newcastle leg of these events will take place on Thursday at Arch 2, a lovely relatively new venue situated between The Tanners and The Cluny, in the Ouseburn Valley.

There are a host of North East comics happy to provide the laughs on the night, including ‘homeless sex god’ George Zach, Geordie veteran Mike Milligan and the funniest geek in town, Neil Harris.  It’s all MC’d by UK Pun Championship runner-up Julian Lee.  It’s only £5 for a whole host of stand-ups so you’ll have a great laugh as well as doing something good at a difficult time of the year for those who have to sleep on the winter streets.  All proceeds from the night will be going to The People’s Kitchen and Crisis so the money raised will stay local.  Doors open at 7 and the show kicks off at 8.

The Homeless Support Stand-Up Project is at Arch 2, Newcastle on Thursday 14th December.
