After a number of line-up changes, new-wave legends The Godfathers are back with a brand new record called A Big Bad Beautiful Noise.
Checking in at Teesside’s Westgarth Social Club on Thursday 9th February, playing exactly what it says on the tin, you can be promised a full preview of what they’re calling their “career best” as it’s not released until a day later. Pro-tip: you’ll probably be able to pick one up on the night if you ask nicely!
Formed in 1985, their mob inspired image, raw lyrics and guitar-driven, edgy rock sound was in a contrast to the clean, synthesized pop that was all over the charts at that time. It seems timely that they’re back again and ready to add new recruits to a fanbase that already features Johnny Depp, The Mars Volta (who cited the band as an influence on their Noctourniquet opus) and David Bowie among its number.
New single You Don’t Love Me is a jangly, hook-laden little beastie that promises to be a real earworm given half a chance.
Support on the night comes from Middlesbrough’s time-served punk rockers Johnny Seven and heavy mod from Thee Strawberry Mynde.
