Maisie Williams stars in the new drama from Carol Morley
If you’re an avid watcher of Game of Thrones then you may well recognise the star of Carol Morley’s latest feature film, Maisie Williams. Best known for her role as Arya Stark in the hit TV show, Williams is a surprisingly versatile actress, as demonstrated by her starrring role in The Falling.
Set in a strict English girls’ school in 1969, The Falling sees the intense and troubled Lydia forming a strong friendship with charismatic Abbie. But, after a tragedy befalls the school, the pair’s friendship is gradually tested as girls at the school suffer from mysterious fainting spells. Harking back to the films of Ken Russell, The Falling is set to be an intense and deeply thought-provoking look at sexual awakening and fear of the opposite sex from a decidedly feminist perspective. Plus, it’ll more than likely make you see Williams in a brand new light. She’s not all about the dragons, you know.
The Falling comes to Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle from Friday 24th April.
