The multi award-winning production The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is coming to our very own Newcastle Theatre Royal early next year as part of the fourth leg on its nationwide tour. An on-stage adaption of Mark Haddon’s novel of the same name, the play has received sensational reviews from the American media recently after taking to the dazzling lights of New York’s Broadway.

The story centres around fifteen year old Christopher; a young boy who suffers from a severe form of autism. Although exceptionally talented at maths and science, Christopher finds it difficult to understand the social mechanics of everyday life and interpreting the world around him. Opening with Christopher, played by Joshua Jenkins, standing beside a dog speared by a garden fork at seven minutes past midnight, the story prompts the audience to view things through Christopher’s eyes as he works to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington. But it is this detective work, forbidden by his father, which completely overturns Christopher’s world – and forces him to embark on a terrifying journey on which he must face his greatest fears.

The adaptation of this much-loved novel is certain to make an impact on theatre-goers young and old.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal from Tuesday 27th January until Saturday 7th February.
