A new film season comes to Tyneside Cinema with a focus on cinema from the North East of England. Starting on Wednesday 4th July, The Cinematic North East takes you on a journey through the best in film our region has played a part in and spans decades of movie history.

It all begins with Newcastle On Film on Wednesday 4th July, then it’s Elizabeth on Monday 15th and Cul-De-Sac on Wednesday 18th July. The iconic Women In Love is Wednesday 25th July while the must see documentary Geordie Jazz Man is Friday 29th July. There’s even more to come in August with highlights including Purely Belter on Thursday 9th, I, Daniel Blake on Tuesday 24th and with September set for Billy Elliot, Get Carter and more.

There’s a lot to look forward to, and a sharp reminder just how important a role the North East has played in film, whether it’s Billy Elliot bopping through the streets of Durham, the spectacular backdrops of Durham Cathedral and Alnwick Castle making an appearance in Harry Potter or the history of the city shown in Get Carter, there is a great deal to see.

The Cinematic North East is at Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle throughout June, July and September.
