Lo-fi folkies The Broken Broadcast headline a special show at The Green Room, Stockton on Sunday 21st December, bringing to a close a year of successful gigging at venues and festivals around the UK. The five-piece from Teesside released their first full album How Not To Cut A Buffalo last year and have captured a dedicated fan base with their hypnotic blend of dream pop and American-style alternative rock. Likened to a stripped down version of US band Grizzly Bear, one of their declared mission statements is in fact to ‘bring a slice of West Coast Americana to the landscapes and wilderness they were thrust upon to earn an existence’.

They are joined for their ‘Christmas Broadcast’ show by some mightily impressive support. Dressed Like Wolves, fellow lo-fi warriors from Thornaby and BBC Introducing favourites, play tracks from their long-awaited new LP and soloist James Kruman will be treating audiences to a fine demonstration of his highly skilled solos. If you’re looking for a night of lyrically nuanced, dark folk, then this celebration looks set to provide a guaranteed fix.
