Celebrating one of the world’s best known sci-fi films directed by Sir Ridley Scott, The Battle For Blade Runner takes place on Thursday 7th November with a series of events to mark the lasting effect the industrial landscape and cold rain of the region had on the young Ridley and his subsequent vision for the 1982 dystopian masterpiece.

A screening of Blade Runner Final Cut will be the focal point of the event and an afternoon appearance is scheduled by Paul M. Sammon, author of Future Noir: The Making of Blade Runner, regarded as the world’s leading authority on the subject, who will be giving an extensive talk on the film.

The day is designed to bring a diverse group of people together to discuss, view, listen and partake in all things Blade Runner as well as being a celebration of the area itself. The film is set in November 2019 so no better time to celebrate the unique link to the region. As Scott himself has said, “It always seemed to be rather gloomy and raining, and I’d just think, ‘God, this is beautiful’”.
