Want a full-on blast of sunny C86-esque brilliance? The Artisans are the only and you’ll need. The group are releasing their latest single However Much I Love You, I Love Lloyd Honeyghan More on the 25th April and are set to gain a whole host of new converts to their sunshine indie-pop in the process. However Much I Love You combines beautiful jangly guitars with some ludicrously catchy and danceable melodies, but what puts it over the edge is the band’s wonderfully quirky songwriting. Vaguely comparable to the small-scale tales and yet off-the-wall lyricism of Belle & Sebastian, the band’s perfectly crafted witticisms cut through the sweetness of the shimmering melodies. Could you ask for anything more from a single?

On the night the band will be joined by Glaswegian eight-piece Randolph’s Leap, whose twisted folk-pop has been charming audiences across the country, including BBC 6 Music’s Marc Riley, who says “they are ace” (and that could be an understatement). Slow Decades round off the bill with their dusty and unpolished melancholy.

Oh, and The Artisans have also promised that some world champion boxers might turn up too… Stranger things have definitely happened.

The Artisans’ single launch party takes place at the Mining Institute, Newcastle on Saturday 25th April.
