You know when it’s nearly time to start stuffing your turkeys and marinating your Christmas puds when Thanksgiving comes around. Yep, it’s that time of year again and to celebrate the first major day of the festive calendar (well, if you’re American that is), the Tyneside Bar Café next to the Tyneside Cinema is hosting an all-American party on 27th November from 7pm.

As well as putting a range of decorations up (keep an eye out for the all-important centrepiece) and offering guests a super American-themed menu, they’re also providing a totally free screening of Football flick Friday Night Lights. That’s American Football, of course. The film documents the life of the coach and players of Odessa’s high school football team and the fans’ almost unhealthy obsession with them. While the main focus is the sport, there’s also an underlying look at social issues such as racism, socioeconomic disparity and segregation in the Texan town. It’s a night not to be missed.

The Tyneside Bar Café will hold its Thanksgiving Party on Thursday 27th November from 7pm.
