Reliably informed

Raise your hands and Teztify! Blackburn comedian Tez Ilyas is heading to the North East for a pair of no doubt godly shows at The Stand and Stockton ARC on Tuesday 8th and Thursday 10th May respectively, presenting his blend of deceptively sweet humour hiding a razor-sharp, piercing wit.

He’s shown off his subversive streak on the likes of Mock The Week and The Last Leg, and he’s also presented two series of his show Tez Talks on BBC Radio 4, tackling issues ranging from what it’s like to be British and Muslim, the assumptions people have about Muslims (and especially himself) and the lack of Asian role models in TV and film.

Ilyas’s new show – aptly called Teztify – will have those witnessing his comedy miracles praising his talents, proselytising those not already converted to his sense of humour. Jam-packed with articulate, thought-provoking observations and a slick yet affable sheen, Ilyas is set to bring a dose of mischief with his new routine. If his previous commentary on what it’s like to be a British Muslim is anything to go by (including his claim to be living a “BNP” life – that’s British National Pakistani – in his last show Made In Britain), then expect a lot of witty yet deliciously rebellious banter and gags. Get ready to worship at the feet of some masterful comedy.
