Since 2007, the Amazing Media company have been helping to develop musical talent from across the country; you’re probably most familiar with the group thanks to the Gateshead-based Amazing Radio and amazingtunes.com, which have given the likes of Alt-J and Daughter their first taste of radio airplay and helped many local artists to flourish. Now the organisation are unveiling their latest venture, the Amazing Record Co, an independent label that has already released Therapy?’s latest LP.

To celebrate, the group are hosting their own showcase of local acts at the Sage Gateshead on Friday 22nd May, featuring three of the north east’s best talents. Tessera Skies are headlining the event; with their atmospheric, sophisticated and highly polished pop with an icy, distinctive edge that only a bunch of north easterners could harness, the trio have turned many heads in recent months, especially during their performance at the BBC 6 Music Festival. As well as headlining the night, the group will also be giving advance copies of their latest single away for free at the gig. Joining them are Bridie Jackson & The Arbour, providing sparse, detailed and intricate folk gems. Their most recent single Far From The Tree encapsulated everything there is to love about the quartet, from the haunting vocals and amazing songcraft to the minimal, highly affecting melodies. Rounding off the bill is eighteen year old singer songwriter Immy Williams. Williams’ beautifully written songs and skilful piano playing have earned her comparisons to Tori Amos and Lana Del Rey, but there’s something more homely and northern to love about her delicate vocals and tunes that sets her apart from her peers.
