Mancunian Terry Christian made his name as a media bete noire in the 90s when he appeared on Channel 4’s The Word. Since then, he’s travelled the world and ended up in the sunny, palm tree-lined boulevards of Beverly Hills. As a result, he’s managed to rack up some impressive anecdotes and has gained a wealth of experiences.

Now, the maverick is embarking on his first-ever stand up tour, Naked Confessions of a Recovering Catholic (which is almost hard to believe), taking a snapshot of all aspects of life, as overlooked by an all-seeing and completely unforgiving God. It’s a rib-tickling look at all the foibles of life, containing everything from sex, violence, religion and class. Basically, everything vaguely controversial yet essential to modern life is on the cards in Christian’s show.

The performance is followed by what’s being billed as a no-holds-barred Q&A session, which has already seen Christian telling tales about Hollywood stars like Tom Hanks and Arnold Schwarzenegger. If you want your comedy with a bit of bite from a man who isn’t afraid to say what he thinks, and maybe a bit of casual showbiz gossip on the side, Christian has just the show for you.

Terry Christian comes to the Gala Theatre, Durham on Saturday 6th June.
