Having established themselves as psychedelic extraordinaires with their 2014 debut Sun Structures soundtracking many a hazy summer day across the nation, Kettering’s finest export Temples are emerging from the shadows to bring their ongoing glam revival to our anticipating ears on a UK tour, with a stop off at Newcastle’s Riverside on Sunday 26th March.
Forming in 2012 as a home studio project, Temples’ success was something of a surprise. Having been stumbled upon by Heavenly Recordings founder Jeff Barrett during an adventitious YouTube scour, the four piece were thrown into the whirlwind pandemonium known as the music industry, quickly reaping support slots for the likes of Suede and Kasabian, and also cementing their status across the pond, strutting their stuff for the millions on Jimmy Fallon and Ellen DeGeneres.
Transfusing classic acid rock with a modern, cosmically charged ascendancy, their unique sound weaves kaleidoscopic imagery through every lyric. Once you’ve acquired a taste of Certainty, the first song released from their new album Volcano, its thick bass-laden harmonies and playful experimentation will make you want swath your cheeks in the most twinkling shade of glitter and pull out your Nanna’s vintage velvet flares for a night of magical thrill.
