With Japanese psych guitar and electronic wizard Kawabata Makoto visiting The Cluny just a couple of weeks ago, those of us hankering for some for of the Far East’s best purveyors of wig-out levels of noise are in for another treat this week. Best known for his involvement with Overhang Party and Miminokoto, guitarist and vocalist Suzuki Junzo is coming to the Tyne Bar to bring another dose of space-psyche to the banks of the river.

With his signature six-stringed guitar and a knack for detailed melodies, Suzuki has forged a hardcore underground following thanks to his mix of loud noise and breathy, almost shoegaze vocal style.

He’s joined by Newcastle-based House Rules, who are playing their debut show with the Japanese guitarist. Featuring the CEO of Box Records, the Director of Golden Manta and, in their words, the “big lad vocalist from Foot Hair and Bin,” the newly formed group are sure to delight fans of the underground noise and alt scene.

Suzuki Junzo and House Rules play at the Tyne Bar, Newcastle on Sunday 21st June.
