Summer is the season of the blockbuster – this year we might not have had any that really stood out (the Fantastic Four reboot and Ant Man were a bit underwhelming and Inside Out wasn’t Pixar’s best) but we can always go back to those classic summer movie moments to remind us why sometimes mainstream Hollywood is the best place to turn for a feel-good movie. It may be nearing the end of the summer now but Tilley’s bar in Newcastle is showcasing a huge variety of summer classics over the next month to keep our hearts warmed as winter starts to draw in.

Kicking off the season of blockbusters is everyone’s favourite slacker movie not called Clerks, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, followed swiftly by one of the funniest indie high school movies of recent years, Napoleon Dynamite. Over the following weeks, the bar will be juxtaposing the musical highs of the Blues Brothers with the menace of Predator and the satirical body horror of Total Recall with the very real fright-fest that is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It all ends with a three-film run of Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, Wild At Heart and The Meaning of Life. Sometimes the meaning of life is just kicking back with a pint and watching a good movie; when that’s the case, Tilleys will be waiting with a film just for you.

Classic movies come to Tilleys, Newcastle between Monday 7th September and Tuesday 29th September.
