Get ready for three days of laughs and dancing at the brand new Stockton Stages music and comedy festival coming to Stockton from Thursday 20th until Saturday 22nd July. This event is taking place across various town centres venues, and promises to cater for all ages, abilities and interests, with even one or two opportunities for audience participation!

Kicking off Thursday evening at ARC will be a mystery comedian – who has since been revealed by organisers as fabulous funny-man Russell Kane, bringing you barrels of laughs with material from his illustrious comic career.

Expect plenty of giggles (and probably a few groans) at the family-friendly comedy events, hosted by multiple comedians at the Family Comedy Stage at the Town Centre Marquee – which will no doubt be a hub of activity during the weekend. With quick-fire puns and witty observations from comedians such as Bec Hill and Middlesbrough-born TV favourite Patrick Monahan. His exuberant comedy show straight from the UK’s comedy circuit is sure to go down a storm!

Meanwhile, any vinyl aficionados among you should hot-foot it down to the well stocked Record Fair on Saturday morning to exercise those thumbs with the range of LP’s and singles on offer– it’ll be the perfect place to pick up music memorabilia that you can’t find anywhere else, from those highly collectable rare records to classic albums you’ve just got to own, all at bargain prices. But before that (sticking with the musical theme), Stockton Stages invite you to warm up your vocal chords for the mass-karaoke event at the Town Centre marquee, accompanied by live band Last Anthem on Friday evening. The karaoke fun continues on Saturday with the Sing-A-Long-A-Sound-Of-Music event at the same venue, where you can expect lyric sheets and on-screen run through of much-loved musical moments from the classic film.

Of course, where would a Teesside festival be without live music from our mint local bands? Friday’s excellent music programme delivers with the likes of Scalesia and Eliza And The Bear, alt rock Catalyse and post-punk Cellar Door. Get your indie anthem fix from Sheffield band The Sherlocks before they take on the big summer festivals this year, and enjoy the classics with local favourites The Beer Pigs, with live music events happening at KU Bar, Storytellers and The Georgian Theatre. Dip into the realms of other musical genres with the KZA Big Band who promise to bring their spunky jazz and ska fusion to Stockton for a special performance, or experience the fast beat of psychobilly geniuses X-Ray Cat Trio, both performing at the Green Dragon Yard on Saturday night. What’s more, you can head to Bishop Street Car Park opposite KU Bar for a number of live acts, such as The Funk Collective and The Phat Tyrtles – we’re praying for good weather!

Finally, Saturday the 22nd July at ARC will see community troupe Of Rogues and Of Honest Men recounting the story of Teesside from the point of view of the Irish Community that settled here in the mid-19th century. Be sure to get tickets to this one if you’re keen to see something special!

Stockton Stages will be held in various venues across Stockton from Thursday 20th until Saturday 22nd of July.
