This summer’s Stockton Calling is set to be an utter blast, and with announcements of stages and headliners coming thick and fast, it’s time to get very excited for the all day music festival on Saturday 15th April. The Sun Inn Stage is the latest to have details announced for it, and with it being programmed by Gary ‘diz’ Walters from local promoters and supporters of the Teesside scene Into Tomorrow, it’s really excelled in getting some quite brilliant bands.
With one of last year’s biggest rising bands Avalanche Party set to bring their urgent, primal rock ‘n’ roll, the line-up sets a standard that other stages will have to be at the top of their game to keep up with. The psychedelic The Strawberries are another great addition, as are the charged and ferocious Black Delta Movement. The impressive Happy Daggers show that this stage is also about giving unsigned bands a platform too, and their funky indie is a welcome addition. Throw in 60s garage rockers The See No Evils, the melodic indie of Towzer and the beautiful sounds of Mali Hayes, and you’ve got a stage that’ll be hard to pull yourself away from. With Ten Foot Tom & The Leprosy Crooks bringing riffs and Chaos Jigsaw a flavour of something different with a soulful hip-hop vibe, there’s a flavour of a rich music scene as part of a festival that is looking absolutely stacked already.
