The first Stand Spotlight show at The Stand in Newcastle was a huge success, the inventive nature of the show – asking acts to write bespoke sets on a given subject – went down a storm, and raised a lot of money for charity in the process. The next Stand Spotlight show is set to concentrate on feminism, and with a wealth of talented comics on the bill, it should make for a very fun show on Tuesday 28th June.

It’s all in aid of The Fawcett Society, who are the UK’s leading charity campaigning for gender equality and women’s rights. The show itself pulls its bill together from some of comedy’s rising stars, as the sharp mind of Rahul Kohli, the leftfield comedy stylings of David Callaghan, alternative favourite Jacob Tong, Scottish emerging comic Donald Alexander, American storyteller Julie Grady-Thomas and the delightfully engaging Sammy Dobson all take the stage. The show is held together by affable host Jared Shooter, and it’ll be interesting to see so many different takes on feminism, with some bright minds and unique voices tackling the subject. Comedy can be at its most exciting when its fresh and new, and it won’t get any fresher than this.

Stand Spotlight – Feminism is at The Stand, Newcastle on Tuesday 28th June.
