Always pushing comedy in the best directions, The Stand are now embarking on a new adventure for a run of monthly shows. Their Stand Spotlight shows will see comedians performing bespoke sets on a specific topic, and the very first of this shows is on Monday 2nd May, with some talented stand-ups doing sets all about animals.

It’s a topic that should inspire a lot from the comedians on show, and it’s a quality line-up of fresh talent too, as we see Thomas Black make the trip down from Scotland, regular funny bringer Elaine Miller, comedy poet Anthony Arnott, alternative shenanigans from Mark Kennedy, leftfield character act Stanley Brooks and the brilliantly funny Sammy Dobson; in a show all held together by effortlessly engaging compere Si Beckwith. All the proceeds go to Newcastle Dog And Cat Shelter, so the laughs are in aid of a great cause. Comedy is a joy to behold when performers take risks, and seeing some top comics doing fresh material and putting their own twist on a topic should make for a top night of hilarity.

Stand Spotlight – Animals is at The Stand, Newcastle on Monday 2nd May.
