Reliably informed

A heavy, intensive and utterly vicious combination of psychedelia and Krautrock, Sonic Jesus are an Italian trio who’ve collaborated with former Can vocalist Damo Suzuki, and are capable of producing an immense deal of incredibly brutal noise.

The trio head an eclectic bill on Monday 14th March that includes the ethereal psychedelia of Charles Dexter Ward, who counts surrealist filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky and sci-fi innovator H.P Lovecraft as major influences, and the sonic noise artist Platemaker, whose noise collages are bound to be ideal for (in the artist’s words) fans of broken extractor fans, broken kids toys and those who’ve experienced the rather unique sensation of ‘screwdrivers in your ears’. Support is rounded off by local psychedelic punks Snakes Don’t Belong In Alaska, whose Destruction Unit-influenced brilliance is bound to start this night of amazing noise off on a very entertaining and very, very, very loud note.

If you escape this gig with your eardrums intact, you are one very tough bugger.

Sonic Jesus play Head of Steam, Newcastle on Monday 14th March.
