Newcastle’s funky music makers, Smoove and Turrell returned to soundtrack our Summer with their new album Stratos Bleu a month or so (6th June). It was the sixth studio album from the pair, who celebrated a decade of existence last year and once again showcases the winning formula of Turrell’s conscious lyricism with Smoove’s impeccable production.

The album, which nods to the early to the early 90’s clubbing (which is quite apt considering the recent reemergence of illegal raves), sees Keyboard player Mike Porter’s collection of analogue synths comes to the fore.

At the request of their fans, to celebrate the launch the band are performing a live online gig on Friday 24th July (8pm) where they will perform ‘Stratos Bleu’ in full. Tickets prices start as a suggested donation of £15 but if you are feeling generous you can always donate more. So if you fancy spending this Friday evening grinding away in your front room, then click here and enjoy.
