Now in its second year, Small Business Saturday has a simple but effective aim: to bring together the independent creative and vintage businesses of the city to celebrate their achievements and encourage the public to shop indie. On Saturday 6th December, Independent and the Sunderland Makers Market will join forces to help support local independent traders on Wearside.

The market is offering an exciting range of vintage arts, crafts, jewellery and clothing from some of the region’s best small business. These include Ivy Apple Designs, Button Bloom Crafts and Deborah Cauchi. There’s bound to be some unique Christmas gift ideas in store, or something to treat yourself with.

While the event only lasts a day, the organisers are hoping that it will have a lasting impact on the habits of consumers. Hopefully, Small Business Saturday will encourage shoppers to support local independent business all year round.
