Fresh from supporting Lewis Watson, Slowlights play Stockton’s Ku Bar on Friday 2nd June. Having been busy touring Europe for much of the winter, their latest release I Try So Hard has been making waves in all the right places. For fans of Catfish and the Bottlemen or, closer to home, Abel Raise The Caine, I Try So Hard is a vintage rocker replete with backwards guitar, plenty of reverb and a chorus as big as the hills. Atmospheric and uplifting with a touch of Arcade Fire thrown in for good measure, I Try So Hard is a fitting follow-up to last year’s debut Dive Right In.

Formed in 2014 the London fourpiece take their influences from Radiohead, Sigur Ros and Coldplay, their live set has been described as “intense and awe-inspiring” and if it’s half as good as the band’s recorded output Ku Bar regulars are in for a treat.

Main support on the night comes from Teesside’s latest emerging indie-slackers Llovers: fresh from wowing Stockton Calling and Newcastle’s inaugural Hit The North Festival the band’s second release Feeling Sound is out now to stream in all the usual places. Make sure to get down early as well for recently reformed rockers Rambler, who open the night.
