Ever-reliable local promoters The Kids Are Solid Gold bring rising star Sivu to The Central Bar, Gateshead on Saturday 21st March as part of an intimate UK-wide tour. Having recently worked with Alt-J’s producer Charlie Andrew, Sivu creates delicate, escapist indie-pop that sits somewhere between the eccentricity of the aforementioned Alt-J and the lush textures of Wild Beasts – somewhat surprising for a former bailiff.

After receiving critical acclaim for his debut album Something On High in 2014, released via Atlantic Records, Sivu closed the year as tour support to Bombay Bicycle Club and Nick Mulvey. The St Ives-born sentimental songwriter is now set to release a double-A side single Sleep/The Nile; the latter being a duet with fellow label mate and up-and-comer Rae Morris, who’s debut album Unguarded hit the Top 10 upon recent release. An ethereal, shimmering duet, The Nile demonstrates Sivu’s ability to create effortless pop tunes that remain lush despite their often complex lyrical content. The intimate setting of The Central Bar will no doubt lend itself well to this sensitive soul.

Sivu plays The Central Bar, Gateshead on Saturday 21st March.
