Reliably informed

If you’ve ever been to the Old Cinema Launderette, then you’ll know that it’s a quaint little 50s-style place to wash your unmentionables with about as much room to swing a cat and a lovely collection of colourful bras. The venue has hosted a series of successful gigs beside the washers and dryers – each time to an audience of about a couple of dozen people at best – so you might not expect a comedy troupe and all their friends to be making an appearance at the venue.

Then again, if you didn’t know what Silly Billies were like by their name then, well… read nine words back. The comedy maestros are putting on a special one-off performance in the launderette and will be performing a night of washing-related jokes, which isn’t aimed at your average man on the street. The strange and surreal group will be doing their usual Reeves & Mortimer-esque farting about alongside Joby Mageean, Liberty Hodes, Fernando and David Callaghan. If you like your comedy a bit bonkers and enjoy being surrounded by 50s nostalgia and underwear, then there’s no better place to be.

Silly Billies come to the Old Cinema Launderette, Durham on Saturday 11th July.
