If many of us are honest with ourselves, we can admit to having the capacity for being better versions of ourselves than we currently are. Whether that takes the form of behaving in a more thoughtful way towards others or just recycling your tins, sometimes doing the right thing to progress yourself as a human being can be…well…tiresome.

Comedian Si Beckwith is on a mission towards self-improvement in his new stand-up show Get Lush, which comes to Alphabetti Theatre on Friday 7th June, and it’s a show about attempting to be a little better, and why the very act of trying can often be good enough.

Having worked with Si for several years (he was NARC.’s web editor for yonks), I can personally attest to his way with words, impeccable comedic timing and clever ripostes. A socially conscious and conscientious comic, Si’s well-structured jokes and stories take in rants on feminism, immigration, politics and self-belief, always with a light touch and cheeky flair. Immensely likeable and impeccably silly, after seeing his show I think you’ll agree he’s about as lush as it’s possible to get.
