It’s been over two years since Newcastle’s alt. pop rockers Shields released their debut Kaleidoscope EP. Garnering considerable praise for tracks including the shimmering up-tempo synth pop of Mezzanine and the bouncy piano refrains of Turning Corners, a follow-up has been a long time coming, and the band have recently announced plans to unleash their debut album in the Spring.

Entitled How Can We Fix This, the band have been working on the album at Newcastle’s Blank Studios, and have also brought Grammy award-winning producer Adrian Bushby on board for mixing duties. “The album is a logical, more in-depth progression from the Kaleidoscope EP,” the band promise, “featuring a cavalcade of shimmering synths, glacial riffs and fuzzy guitars.”

Fans won’t have to wait too long to hear the new track though, as they’ll be performing songs from the new album, plus a few old favourites, at The Cluny 2, Newcastle on Friday 30th January.
