Reliably informed

Urgent indie rock has never been particularly far away from The Keys this month, thanks to appearances in recent weeks from Collectors Club, Street Party in Soho and fusion masters Bi:Lingual. It’s a trend that’s not letting up any time soon, as Serinette prepare to be the latest group to the stage at the venue’s amazing Mixtape night. But to be honest, when the line up continues to be this good, who’d want it to change?

With their firebrand singer and intense but curiously unique sound, Serinette have gained a major following in the region, earning them slots supporting local heroes Young Rebel Set, Gallery Circus and The Jar Family among many others. Often uncompromising and always a riot live, the duo have earned praise from BBC Introducing’s Mark Forrest, who says “good aren’t they?” I think he might be underplaying that one a bit.

Support is provided by Joe Ramsey, who recently released his debut single Time. Hailing from Middlesbrough and influenced by Ben Howard and John Mayer, Ramsey is likely to be the more chilled ying to Serinette’s yang.

Serinette and Joe Ramsey play Mixtape at The Keys, Middlesbrough on Tuesday 17th February.
