Reliably informed

When David Cameron spoke of the Big Society he envisioned a warlike response to an arbitrary fiscal crisis most people didn’t understand, while small town Britain took advantage – where they could – of a small society built around cash in hand jobs and zero hours contracts with little creative opportunity. Middlesbrough’s Sad For Life Records believe in community spirit, which is the natural humanist response to any type of crisis.

The Sad Social platform is an opportunity for those interested in the creative community to meet and get involved in music and the arts and to help build a positive creative environment. The brainchild of Heel Turn’s Aaron Lythe, Sam Donaldson and Callum Armstrong, Skins And Needles in Middlesbrough will hosts the first event on Friday 3rd August which invites veterans of the industry or those new to the scene to see what is on offer in the area, with representatives from a variety of areas on hand to offer advice and chat.

Musician, blogger, photographer, promoter, or just somebody with a lot of ideas, Sad For Life members will be on hand to meet with people, talk about music, accept demos and chat about what opportunities are available in the area, but they are keen to stress it is not so much about them as everyone who walks through the door.
