Human-faced muffins, future ninjas and pineapple intolerance: these are just the tip of the iceberg of Ross Noble’s wacky ramblings. Well-known for diving into the unknown realms of comedy without a script, the audience is left with nothing but his warped imagination to guide the ensuing chaos of his shows. The loveable, hairy Geordie jester has been the class-clown of British comedy for over a decade, featuring on various TV panel shows (Have I Got News for You, QI) along the way.
As well as sending venues across the UK into a side-splitting state of frenzy, Noble has frequently worked with charities, starred in a horror film (Stitches) and ventured across Australia on his beloved BMW R1150GS Motorbike. Even after hitting the big 4-0 last year, Noble shows no blatant signs of maturing, meaning his witty, freewheeling remains wholly intact. His latest live offering, Brain Dump, will be heading to the Sunderland Empire on Wednesday 8th March and looks to be yet another triumph for the Motorbike-loving comic (Get it? Triumph…).
Taken from a phrase in a bad Amazon review of his own DVD, Brain Dump is a theatrical unloading of his most random thoughts and theories – if you’ve ever witnessed his strange brilliance before, you’ll know to expect the unexpected. Certain things are always guaranteed in Noble’s adrenaline-fuelled performances, like examinations of the abnormal, lots of jumping about and plenty of improvised chats between audience members, hecklers and himself. Prepare to be unprepared…and laugh ‘til your brain is sore.
