A rooftop cinema is coming to Newcastle’s Castle Keep between Friday 15th July and Saturday 27th August. Brought to the region by Bula Bula, several well known films will be broadcast overlooking the Newcastle skyline. The month of movies starts with Grease on Friday 15th July, which is sadly now sold-out.

Though there’s lots more to come, with different genres all set to be featured there is something for everyone. Some of the most well-known are Mean Girls (Saturday 23rd July), Reservoir Dogs (Saturday 20th August) and The Shining (Friday 26th August).

Castle Keep will have a BBQ, courtesy of BBQCabCo, and you are able to bring in your own bottle – saving pennies on the cinema refreshment prices. Free popcorn is also included in the very reasonable £15 ticket price.

Don’t worry about the events being rained off, though. Come rain or shine the rooftop cinema will go ahead – however, in the case of high winds, the films will be shown in The Great Hall at the same venue.

Whether you want to be scared senseless during The Conjuring (Friday 6th August), relive your youth with The Lion King (Friday 29th July) or laugh until you cry at Wayne’s World (Saturday 23rd July), or round it all out on closing night with the dark and memorable Oldboy (Sat 27th August). Bula Bula have made it possible to have a wonderful cinematic experience while overlooking the bridges and familiar buildings of Newcastle and beyond.

This alternative yet simplistic method of film watching will be an experience you will struggle to forget. More information and the full schedule of films being shown can be found at bulabula’s website, here.
